01

Clinical sleep assessment

A structured history of sleep, daytime function, health, medicines, work patterns and what has already been tried.

What it may include

  • Validated questionnaires and a sleep diary before consultation
  • A video appointment with a sleep clinician
  • A working explanation of likely causes and maintaining factors
  • A written plan, including tests, treatment or referral where appropriate
02

Insomnia and CBT‑I

For persistent difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or waking too early, with an effect on daytime life.

Understand persistent insomnia

Planned treatment

Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, or CBT-I, addresses sleep timing, learned associations, unhelpful effort and worry around sleep. It is a structured clinical treatment, not a list of sleep-hygiene tips.

Medicines may sometimes help, but they will not be the automatic first step or repeated without review.

03

Suspected obstructive sleep apnoea

For patterns such as loud snoring, witnessed pauses, gasping, morning headaches or marked daytime sleepiness.

Know the signs

Planned route

When the history supports it, Anshino plans to arrange a home sleep apnoea test by post. A clinician will interpret the recording in context and explain the result.

People who need CPAP initiation, laboratory testing or complex respiratory assessment will be referred onward.

04

Other sleep problems

Restless legs, circadian timing, parasomnias and excessive sleepiness can look like insomnia but require different questions.

Assessment before assumption

The first task is to distinguish the pattern and identify medical, psychiatric, neurological, respiratory, medication or lifestyle contributors.

Anshino will only treat problems within its competence. Complex or high-risk presentations will be directed to an appropriate NHS or specialist service.

05

What the online clinic will not replace

  • Emergency or urgent medical care
  • In-laboratory polysomnography
  • CPAP set-up and long-term equipment provision
  • Specialist management of narcolepsy or complex parasomnias
  • Assessment or treatment for children
